Advanced Motor Developments was set up by two friends with a passion for high-performance cars. Today it is an independent workshop in Goose Green, Wigan, working on everything from a coding fault to a forged engine.

Where we came from
Built on Mitsubishi Evos
AMD grew out of Japanese performance cars, Mitsubishi Evos in particular. Our managing director owned one for fifteen years, and the Evo is still the car we are best known for.
As demand grew we took on other manufacturers, and the diagnostic and programming side grew with it. Today the same workshop handles a family car with a coding fault, an engine on the stand and a car being set up for the track.
The common thread is engineering. We find the cause, fix it properly and prove the fix before the car goes back.

How we work
Straight answers, evidence behind them
We diagnose before we quote. When a car comes in with a fault, the first job is finding out what is genuinely wrong, not changing parts to see what happens.
Where a module or ECU can be repaired or cloned, we say so, because it is usually quicker and cheaper than a replacement that would need programming anyway.
And when the work needs to be in writing, we write it up: technical reports for insurance and warranty purposes, based on the evidence on the car.
After many let down mechanics and endless garage visits I was recommended AMD, my Subaru was left for an hour and the problem was sorted. These lads know their stuff …
Work is always spot on … So good to have a trustworthy garage when you need it. I don't live in the area anymore but travel to get there.
